Gothic Novels
In my opinion when it comes to gothic literature, supernatural is the most effective. I think that supernatural brings upon the most suspense, when the reader is alert to something horrific happening. Supernatual I feel also leaves memories and the element of being scared. Many novels now a days are later turned into a movie, in which the movie emphasizes suspense and horror. A good example of suspense in supernatural would be in the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Victor goes back his home town and while walking through the park, he sees something lurking in the darkness. This while reading the novel created suspense and brought more interest to me of reading on in the story. Events like this in story help give the reader a better mental picture of what is happening and also leave a memory for the reader to remember. Personally it is easier for me to recall scenes of horror then scenes of action and atmosphere.

Opening- Mary Shelley
In the novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley starts off by having four letters that give the reader some background knowledge on the characters. In the letters we are introduced to a man named Robert Walton who is on a ship traveling to try and discover a new passage to the Northern Pacific, while traveling Walton finds a "stranger" who is traveling trying to share his story to those who are willing to listen. Walton and the stranger end up having a lot in common with each other which brings comfort to Walton because he has felt alone on the ship he is traveling on. Even though the ship has a whole crew , the crew is very ignorant and oblivious to such knowledge unlike Walton is. This to me was an effective way to start off the novel because it gave the reader some sense of things that had previously occurred and also some insight into some of the characters. If I was to write a horror story I think I would start the book off with some kind of text to indicate the main characters past. I would do this in a way that did not make any sense at all so as the reader began reading the actual novel everything would come together, making my novel much more interesting and all together a great book to read. Maybe I would do letters such as Mary Shelley did or I might do it in another creative way such as in cassette tapes that are being recorded for the reader to read. I got this idea from the book The Thirteen Reasons (cannot think of author right now). No matter what I decided to be the opening to my book I would make sure it is very interesting and creative to draw the reader into the story.

NO Electronics
If there was no electronics anymore I would spend all my time with the people I care about most. I would spend my days playing with my son, teaching him to play with his toys and sit up, I would also read to him all day long. Along with dedicating all my time to my son I would also spend time with my family and boyfriend. I would play games with my brothers and just hang out with them and I would talk with my grandma and spend time with her to try to work out our differences. While I was spending time with Jayden I would also spend time with his dad Anthony. Anthony is my bestfriend and our son is our world so it would work out perfectly. I would never have to miss any of my family because I would also we with them. As long as I have those people with me I would not even mind no electronics because they are all the people my life revolves around anyways :)
